The world of Large-Scale Retail (GDO) encompasses all activities involving the direct sale of products/services to the end consumer. Examples include stores, supermarkets, temporary shops, vending machines, and e-commerce platforms. One of the commonly used products in this sector is thermal paper rolls for cash registers. The Ministerial Decree of July 31, 2013, regulates the use of thermal-sensitive paper for issuing fiscal receipts. This paper has a semi-glossy appearance and a specific chemical composition: it is coated with a reactive dye activated by a heat source. Additionally, it must meet precise physical-mechanical characteristics (e.g., weight, thickness, etc.), pass dynamic sensitivity tests, and demonstrate aging stability. The back of the rolls must also bear the mark of the manufacturing company, along with the product’s release number and date, and details of the certification confirming compliance with the required specifications. These fundamental specifications are useful both to users and law enforcement agencies.
